We are living in a time where the future is being cancelled and colonised and this is profoundly dangerous. As our collective sense of what’s possible contracts, as our ability to see things as if they could be otherwise is corrupted, we face a polycrisis where our survival depends on our ability to reimagine everything with our key resource depleted and weakened. I will take you on a journey into why the imagination matters so much right now and why longing could be our superpower.

I will take you on a trip to 2036 to visit the future that resulted from our doing everything we could possibly have done, and introduce you to some of the greatest practitioners of ‘temporal fluidity’. I will inspire you with stories of activism and changemaking that centres the future, and introduce the concept of ‘sensual futurism’. bell hooks once wrote that « what we cannot imagine cannot come into being ». And if you’re very lucky, I might even bring my time machine and take you on an adventure !

À travers des récits inspirants d’engagement et de transformation, j’aborderai aussi la notion de « futurisme sensible ». Comme l’écrivait bell hooks : « Ce que nous ne pouvons pas imaginer ne peut pas advenir. »

Et avec un peu de chance… je viendrai peut-être même avec ma machine à voyager dans le temps.
